Ecological fashion was one of the important issue brought up by greenpace with the DETOX theme in the last trimester of 2012, so I guess it is appropriate promoting La Bottega della Gagiandra. 

Their motto is: recycling old materials by rediscovering traditional Italian knowledge as hand work and creativity.

Beside hurricane and some snowing days, New York City is the place to be if you are an emerging designer and you want to showcase your women collection.

From February 28th to March 3rd 2013, BKFK showcases the top emerging designer in the fashion industry including local, national and international designers. The runway shows feature eco-friendly designers, ready to wear and couture designers.

COLOR NATURAE

In few days time, the MWFW is going to rules Milan. Famous brands are going to dominate the international fashion media and blogs; on-line Vogue is going to update his page several times per day with post and photos by the catwalks; consumerism is going to be celebrate.

Before that press orgy, I want to introduce COLOR NATURAE. This brand, founded in 2005 by few young designers, believes in the environmentally compatible use of natural fiber like merinos wool, alpha, cotton, and linen colored by natural and non-toxic dyes.

Francesca Tosi

Francesca is a humble designer; she loves to observe streets wear; to discover which kind of clothes people wear everyday; and to analyze which kind of emotions and feels are involved inside clothes.

Her field is women apparel, because she can understands better women's taste and their fashion expectations. And she can plays around with ruffles, pleats, and laces; an opportunity she barely has designing men wear.

Tina Stoica

Tina considers herself "an artist, who has expertise in textile design." And it makes sense, because you can lear how to design, but you need to have artistic sensibility, chromatic affinities, and imaginative expression to become a designer. 

While she is working as a textile designer, she follows fashion tendencies; but when she is developing her artistic installation she truly expresses herself.

Sian Riley

Sian Riley is a joyful and enthusiastic women wear designer.
She always been interested in how women's fashion has evolve through the years, and she always want to create: become a designer was her natural choice.

She love to experiment different kind of material to develop clothes, like plastic or paper, but "some of my more artistic project can all be worn, even if they are a little crazy".

ICON handloom cluster

Few weeks ago I contacted Manuprasad Mathew, a designer from India, and he introduced to me the ICON project. 

The Government of India, to develop and valorize handloom cluster in an inclusive, sustainable and self-reliant manner, sponsors this project that is located in Kannur, a city in the Northern part of Kerala.

Kelly Wenrick is specializes in menswear.
"I like the craft and problem solving of tailoring and menswear construction". 

She defines herself a tomboy; that's way she understands what men appreciate in clothing, a field where functionality is in harmony with fashion.

Purple Accessories

Purple Accessories is a design studio located in Rome, Italy. They have handmade and unique design; and they mix together raw material, fun and toys.

Purple Accessories born when three designer, with they own brand, choose to work as a team because "three different minds create something magic".

 

According to them design means create new and useful items for out time and society, something that is at the same time eco and unlike anything else.

Francesca Paolin

Francesca Paolin became a fashion designer for make her own garment, her own style, for not being a trend follower: "during the 80's and 90's I did not like what was on trend […] shoulder pads and loud jewelry […] or just black color".

Itee Soni

Itee Soni is from India, but she works in Shanghai.
Her design is striking and fun and yet eminently wearable. She follow the eco-fashion style producing all her garment using organic fabrics or recycled fiber.

Eco-fashion

Sustainable design, an hot topic nowadays, is the philosophy of designing physical object to comply with the principles of economic, social and ecologic sustainability. And eco-fashion is part of this growing philosophy and trend of sustainability.

Fashion designers, after the consumerism trend of the 1980s and 1990s, are now re-introducing eco-conscious methods at the source through the use of environmentally friendly materials (recycle wool, recycle polyester from plastic bottle, and bio natural fiber) and socially responsible methods of production.
